Thank you for purchasing an iMate. This document contains important information about using your iMate with the iMate driver software. Please read this entire document and the iMate Troubleshooting document before calling for technical assistance.
What's New
The iMate driver version 1.2 fixes a problem with the ALPS touchpad. In addition, it adds a new feature where certain parameters of operation can be changed with the iMate Fiddler application. If you're upgrading from a pre-1.0.x version, remove both the iMate Enabler and the iMate USB Module from your Extensions folder, and replace them with the new iMate USB Driver (single file).
Instructions
Make sure your iMac is updated using the iMac updater version 1.1, and the iMac Firmware update (both released 12.17.98). If you have one of the new Rev. C or Rev. D (flavored) iMacs, it may not be necessary to run the updates. If the "Mac OS ROM" file in your System Folder is v. 1.2.1 or later (in the Get Info window), you do not need to run the Apple updates below.
Next, install the iMate USB Driver into the Extensions folder and restart your machine.
* If you are using ADB devices that require special software for full functionality, make sure those devices and the iMate are connected at startup or reboot. These devices will not function correctly if they are hot removed or attached.
Known Issues/Limitations
- The custom drivers (Point Device) for the MacAlly two button mouse and two and four button trackball are not compatible with the iMate driver.
- The iMate can not startup your computer with extensions off or boot off from a CD if the iMac keyboard is connected. If this bothers you, you must disconnect the iMac keyboard.
- You cannot use more than 7 ADB devices with the iMate driver software. In addition, you cannot have more than 6 devices connected which startup at the same ADB address (i.e., 6 protection dongles, 6 mice, etc.).
